Dominican woman sentenced to 25 years for killing fellow Dominican friend in Orlando

Dominican woman Gisselle Victoria González was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of her friend and fellow Dominican, Runy Leidy Medina Pacheco, who traveled to Orlando in late 2022 to spend the Christmas holidays.
Medina Pacheco was reported missing on December 27, 2022, and her body has never been found. González, 44, was arrested in Hartford, Connecticut, on November 7, 2024, after investigators identified inconsistencies in her account of what happened.
During her sentencing before Judge A. James Craner, González apologized to Medina Pacheco’s family and said she regretted what happened. She said the killing occurred during a moment of anger and asked the victim’s relatives for forgiveness.
The two women lived together in an apartment complex on Curry Ford Road in Orlando. González was the person who reported Medina Pacheco missing, telling authorities she had not known her whereabouts for two days.
Investigators initially considered González cooperative, but later identified inconsistencies in her statements. A search of the apartment also uncovered evidence that a violent incident had occurred.
According to the case records cited in the report, González acknowledged that blood found inside the apartment belonged to either herself or Medina Pacheco. She also admitted taking about $2,500 from her friend.
Investigators believe Medina Pacheco confronted González about the missing money on Christmas Day, leading to a physical altercation in which González killed her. Authorities said González then attempted to clean up the blood and conceal evidence of the incident.
Despite the conviction and sentence, Medina Pacheco’s remains have not been recovered. Her family continues to seek answers about what happened to her and where her body is located.

The 25-year sentence includes credit for 665 days González had already spent in custody.
