Authorities condemn the attack in Colombia

Governor Adriana Matiz described the event as a criminal act and rejected the violence directed against civilians and members of the security forces.

The official maintained that attacks against families and communities cannot be tolerated and expressed her solidarity with those affected.

For his part, Mayor Hueje reported that, in addition to the vehicle used for the detonation, drones were observed flying over the urban area of Planadas.

However, the authorities have not yet established whether those devices were directly related to the attack.

Colombia faces new episodes of violence

The attack occurs amidst an escalation of violent actions attributed to illegal armed groups in different regions of Colombian territory.

In recent months, there have been reports of explosive attacks, assaults on commercial establishments, and murders, which has prompted the deployment of military forces in several cities.

The Colombian government, led by Abelardo de la Espriella, has promoted operations against armed organizations, while clashes and threats against the population persist.

Recent measures include the reinforcement of the military presence in Cúcuta, a city on the border with Venezuela, and security operations in Santa Marta.

Investigating those responsible for the attack

So far, Colombian authorities have not publicly identified those responsible for the explosion in Planadas.

Security agencies are continuing their investigations to establish who participated in the preparation and execution of the attack, as well as the circumstances that allowed the vehicle loaded with explosives to be brought into the area.

As the investigations progress, authorities continue to assess the damage and provide assistance to the affected families.
