F-16 fighter jet crashes in Michigan during routine training exercise

An F-16 fighter jet crashed in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, on Thursday, prompting an evacuation order along part of County Road 633, according to the county’s emergency management agency.

A spokesperson for the 149th Fighter Wing of the Texas National Guard said the pilot ejected from the aircraft and is in stable condition. The pilot is receiving medical treatment.

The aircraft was taking part in a routine training exercise when it crashed, according to the spokesperson. Authorities have not released further details about the cause of the crash.
