The attorney for Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts woman accused of killing her three children, is publicly urging President Donald Trump to consider granting her a pardon after a mistrial was declared in the case.
“I would like to say that perhaps Donald Trump, who felt the need to comment on this case, very well could, Mr. President, consider this young woman, the type of person she is, what has happened, and consider granting her a pardon,” attorney Kevin Reddington said in an interview with Good Morning America.
Clancy was being tried in connection with the January 2023 deaths of her three children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan. She does not deny strangling the children with an exercise band in the basement of her home, but her defense argues that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and therefore should not be held criminally responsible.
Reddington described his client as “very intelligent” and “hardworking,” and recalled that she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital for about nine years, where he said she was highly respected. He also described her as “a wonderful neighbor, friend, wife and mother” and said he has maintained a strong bond with her.
Following the mistrial, Reddington said he had “crushed” the prosecution, but later explained that the comment was “bravado” made in the highly tense atmosphere following a six- or seven-week trial.

The jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, splitting 11-1, which resulted in the mistrial. Reddington said he respects the lone juror’s right to maintain their position but expressed frustration over a note indicating that the juror had doubts and would not apply the reasonable-doubt standard explained by the judge.
