Mobile phone explosion sparks panic at clinic housing newborn babies in India

A mobile phone suddenly exploded in a patient’s hand inside a clinic in Gwalior, in India’s Madhya Pradesh state, on Sunday, triggering a fire and moments of panic among patients and medical staff, including people caring for newborn babies.
The incident was captured by the clinic’s security cameras. Footage showed the device catching fire after the explosion, prompting an immediate reaction from staff members who rushed to extinguish the flames.
Medical personnel quickly poured water on the burning phone and managed to put out the fire before it could spread to other areas of the facility.
The incident caused alarm among those present, particularly because newborn babies were inside the clinic at the time. However, authorities and local reports indicated that no injuries were reported.
The circumstances behind the phone’s explosion have not been disclosed.
