Buenos Aires.– The Government of Argentina reported this Sunday that it is providing assistance to nearly a hundred Argentine citizens affected by the fire that consumed part of a hotel in the Dominican Republic.
n” “nAccording to a statement from the Argentine Foreign Ministry, the consular section of the embassy in the Dominican Republic is taking steps with the competent Dominican authorities to assist more than 100 citizens affected by the loss of documentation and personal belongings.
n” “n“Likewise, the consular section is coordinating the issuance of emergency travel documentation for those who require it,” the document indicates.

The affected tourists were staying at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach hotel, located in the tourist municipality of Bayahíbe, in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic.
The fire, of still unknown origin and already extinguished, spread rapidly last Friday due to the thatched roofs that covered a large part of the complex’s common areas, where 1,690 people were staying.
n” “nDuring the incident, a hotel guest, an Italian woman identified as Francesca Valentino, died due to smoke inhalation.
In its statement, the Argentine Government thanked the Dominican authorities for their rapid assistance and collaboration regarding the situation, while deeply regretting what occurred.
n” “nFollowing the fire, the guests were relocated to alternative facilities, including the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace, as well as other hotels in Bayahíbe and Miches.
