Berlin.- The
Crown Princess of Norway,
Mette Marit, has apologized for not informing herself more about the background of the American pedophile and millionaire
Jeffrey Epstein, after documents declassified on Friday revealed that she visited the magnate’s house in Palm Beach.
In a message to the Norwegian channel TV2, the communications director of the Norwegian royal house confirmed this Saturday that Mette-Marit and a friend stayed overnight for four nights at Epstein’s house outside Miami, the same property where the millionaire was later convicted of sexually assaulting minors.
“Jeffrey Epstein is responsible for his actions. I must take responsibility for not investigating Epstein’s background better and for not realizing quickly enough the kind of person he was,” said Crown Prince Haakon’s wife, according to this media outlet.
Mette-Marit added that she
“deeply” regrets having shown “poor judgment” in these circumstances and having maintained contact with the American.
“I am ashamed. I want to express my deep empathy and solidarity with the victims of the abuses committed by Jeffrey Epstein,” he hammered home.
The Crown Princess
had already publicly apologized in 2019, when it was revealed that she had been seen with Epstein on several occasions, both at one of his residences in the U.S. and in Norway.

In the emails declassified on Friday by the
U.S. Department of Justice, it is also revealed that the magnate, convicted of paying for sex with a minor and who committed suicide in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on more serious charges of child trafficking, had invited Mette-Marit to his private island.
However, the Norwegian royal house stated that the princess never traveled there.
The new emails also reveal that the two still communicated on several occasions in 2014, despite the royal house having previously assured that the last contact had been in 2013, when the stay in Palm Beach took place.
