Madrid.- The leftist candidate Iván Cepeda was the most voted by Colombians residing in Spain in the second round of the presidential elections, with a small lead over the far-right candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, who was the winner of the national count.

Cepeda obtained 49.84% of the votes (66,945) in Spain, while his rival obtained 48.71% (65,426), according to data published by the National Registry with 100% of the polling stations counted.

In the first round, the left-wing politician had also finished in the lead, followed by De la Espriella.

Participation was 43.71% of the 308,000 eligible voters in Spain, one of the largest Colombian electoral communities abroad. They were able to do so between last Monday and this Sunday, when the elections were held in Colombia.

The national result was also very close: De la Espriella obtained 49.66% of the votes, while Cepeda secured 48.70%, according to preliminary data from 99.9% of the polling stations published by the National Registry.
