Peskov asserted that Russia “remains open to peace negotiations” in Ukraine
Moscow.- The presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, the United States, Donald Trump, and Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will only meet to sign an agreement that puts an end to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, declared Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov today.
“They have been proposing a Putin-Trump-Zelensky summit for a long time. And you know well the position of our head of state, this meeting is only possible to sign agreements. And the agreements will not be a primitive deal,” he asserted to the press, as cited by the Russian agency Interfax.
According to the representative of the Russian Presidency, these agreements “are the result of a very complex settlement process, which may contain a large number of details.”

He pointed out that “naturally it is totally useless for presidents to meet to debate all of this”.
“They can meet only to sign the agreements. But the Ukrainian side is the one that does not want to engage in finding a real solution to the conflict,” he stressed.
Peskov asserted that Russia “remains open to peace negotiations” in Ukraine, but warned that “unfortunately, at the moment we do not see any premises” for a resumption of negotiations.

“They simply don’t exist at the moment,” he said.
Last Friday, Peskov admitted that the peace process between Russia and Ukraine, whose last round with United States mediation took place in February, is “completely stalled.”
“The matter of peace negotiations is now completely stalled. There are no new ideas,” he commented.
Moscow awaits new proposals
Moscow has repeated in recent months that it is awaiting new proposals from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after both parties acknowledged that what was agreed upon a year ago at the U.S.-Russia summit in Anchorage has lost its validity.

Nevertheless, Peskov insisted today that “the Ukrainian side knows our demands perfectly well,” alluding to the Russian requirement that Kiev withdraw its troops from the entire Donbas.
“They do not want to discuss this peacefully, which is why we maintain a positive dynamic at the front and the (special military) operation continues,” he stressed.
Hours earlier, the Kremlin spokesman supported the Russian escalation of massive attacks against Kyiv, which has claimed dozens of civilian victims in the last three days, by pointing out that it is a response to Ukrainian attacks against the Russian rear.
