Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of John F. Kennedy, dies at 35

New York.- Tatiana Schlossberg, daughter of Caroline Kennedy and granddaughter of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, died at the age of 35 from terminal cancer, the JFK Library Foundation reported this Tuesday. “Our beloved Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always live in our hearts,” the institution stated in a brief statement released on social media. Schlossberg, a journalist specializing in the environment and author of several essays and books on climate change, revealed last month in The New Yorker that she suffered from a rare mutation of acute myeloid leukemia, which was diagnosed in May 2024, shortly after giving birth to her second child. John F. Kennedy’s granddaughter, the 35th President of the United States, then stated that she had undergone chemotherapy sessions to combat the disease and a bone marrow transplant from her sister, but that the cancer returned.

Schlossberg recounted in the publication how he faced the illness and the certainty of a “near end”, while trying to focus on his children. “I try to live and be with them. Being in the present is more difficult than it seems, so I let the memories come and go,” he said then. Schlossberg, who published the book ‘Inconspicuous Consumption’ in 2019, in which he analyzed the impact of everyday consumption on the environment, took that moment to criticize his cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a declared anti-vaxxer, for his stance against science and medicine. JFK’s granddaughter was the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan and Australia, and designer and artist Edwin Schlossberg. She is survived by her husband, George Moran; her two children, a boy and a girl; her parents; and her siblings, Rose and Jack Schlossberg.
