Mexico City, June 27 (EFE).- Mexican authorities arrested in Jalisco, western Mexico, Walter ‘N’ alias ‘Will’, who allegedly was engaged in the buying and selling of firearms and accessories for exclusive use by the Army through instant messaging applications and is identified as an arms supplier for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
The man, identified as Walter Fonseca Domínguez, was arrested by members of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of Defense (Defense), Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the National Guard, according to official sources.
The arrest occurred after police forces executed two search warrants, one of them in the municipality of Zapopan, where they seized seven handguns, two long guns, boxes with cartridges of various calibers, doses of marijuana, gram scales, a bill counter, cash, four vehicles, a motorcycle, five small plastic bags with white powder, and gun magazines.
In the municipality of Tlajomulco, 25 kilos of marijuana, cartridges of different calibers, two metal plates, various documentation, two gram scales, and a motorcycle were found.
In a separate statement, the SSPC specified that the arrest was the result of investigation work through which two properties located in Residencial Bonanza, in the San Agustín neighborhood, in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, and another on Avenida de las Torres, in the La Florida neighborhood, in Zapopan, in which Fonseca Domínguez was being held, were identified.
The man was arrested and presented before the corresponding Public Ministry agent, and the properties were sealed and under police protection.
In the region, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Nueva Familia Michoacana operate, which the U.S. President Donald Trump’s government designated as terrorist groups in February.
Faced with these disputes from organized crime, Guanajuato, Jalisco, and Michoacán are among the six of the 32 states in the country with the most homicides nationwide, according to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
