Mahmud Ahmadinejad, who was
President of Iran between 2005 and 2013, died in one of the
air strikes organized by Israel and the United States, according to what was stated this Sunday by the agency
Iton Gadol and the Israeli newspaper
The Jerusalem Post. According to reports, the bombing directly impacted his residence in
Narnak, northeast of
Tehran.
As detailed, the attack hit the home of
Ahmadineyad in that Tehran neighborhood,
causing his death and that of several bodyguards. The versions released indicate that the building was also used by members of his former security detail, linked to the
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

So far, Iranian state media have not officially confirmed the death of the former president. However, after the first wave of bombings (which would have also caused the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials) rumors and reports about the fate of Ahmadinejad began to circulate.
The bombing would have been part of a
joint air offensive against different targets in Tehran.
Reports indicate that, in addition to Ahmadinejad, at least three members of the Revolutionary Guards died in the attack. Sources speak of a direct impact on the building that left almost total destruction at the scene.
In the past,
rumors about attacks or accidents linked to the former president had already circulated, which were later
denied by Iranian authorities. This time, however, there has been no official statement so far to categorically confirm or deny the information released by foreign media.
A controversial figure amid regional escalation
Ahmadinejad, 69 years old, was one of the most controversial figures in recent Iranian politics. During his presidency, he adopted an openly confrontational stance towards Israel and the West, made inflammatory statements about the Holocaust, and was a constant critic of US and Israeli policies.
His alleged death occurs in a context of strong military escalation in the region. Iran launched retaliatory attacks with missiles and drones against Gulf states, Israel, and even towards Cyprus, generating civilian casualties and diplomatic tensions on different fronts.
As international repercussions grow and the
conflict deepens, the absence of official confirmation from Tehran keeps uncertainty open about the fate of the former Iranian president.
