New York.- US President Donald Trump stated this Sunday that today’s Israeli attack on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, “should not have happened, especially” on the day the United States and Iran are expected to sign a peace agreement.
“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, especially on such a special day when we are so close to reaching a peace agreement. Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very mild and insignificant; no one was injured or killed,” the president wrote on his Truth Social network.
«We are very close to an agreement that will bring peace to the region, including Lebanon, and all parties should remain calm (…). This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace. Let’s not blow it!», he added.

At least three people were killed and six others were injured this Sunday in an Israeli attack on an area in the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as the Dahye.

Attack on the same day an agreement is scheduled to be signed
The Lebanese Civil Defense said in a statement that, after carrying out search, rescue, and debris removal operations in the Al Ghobeiry area, “the bodies of three martyrs have been recovered,” while six injured people were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The bombing of the Dahye, a suburb on the outskirts of the Lebanese capital considered a Hezbollah stronghold, comes after the Israeli Army reported earlier today that three projectiles launched from Lebanon had fallen into Israeli communities near the border and ordered the evacuation of more than ten towns in southern Lebanon.
The attack occurs on the same day that an agreement between the United States and Iran is expected to be signed to end the war, which will allow the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened immediately.

However, the Iranian chief negotiator in the peace talks, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated today that it is “impossible to talk about moving forward” with the United States if it does not fulfill its commitments in Lebanon.
“If you lack the will or the capacity to fulfill your commitments, it is impossible to talk about moving forward,” Qalibaf said on X, in an apparent reference to the peace agreement with Washington.
