A couple was filmed enjoying a glass of cognac at a restaurant near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on October 17, while violent student protests unfolded in the background. The contrast between the calm scene at the table and the unrest on the streets drew attention on social media.

The protests, which have entered their fifth week, are linked to broader grievances in France, including rising living costs and concerns over education. The video shows the couple continuing their drink as smoke and unrest can be seen in the distance.
