VIDEO: Trump confirms U.S. entry authorization for Flávio Bolsonaro and family, but says he will not get involved

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Wednesday that his administration had authorized Flávio Bolsonaro and his family to enter the United States, while insisting he would not get involved in the circumstances that led the Brazilian presidential candidate to leave his country.

“We gave him permission to enter the country, so we’ll see, but I will not get involved,” Trump told reporters when asked about Bolsonaro’s situation.

The U.S. president also questioned the circumstances surrounding Brazil’s recent presidential election, describing it as “very strange” and suggesting that Bolsonaro and his family had been treated unfairly.

“I think they were treated very unfairly,” Trump said, adding that although he had not taken sides in the election, he would speak out when he believed something inappropriate had occurred.

Bolsonaro arrived in the United States after leaving Brazil following his defeat in the presidential election over the weekend, according to the report.

Trump’s remarks confirm that the United States authorized the family’s entry, but he said he would not intervene in the matters surrounding Bolsonaro’s departure from Brazil.
