Atlanta.. — Aaron Judge continues to write his name in the history of the New York Yankees. This Sunday, the captain hit his 351st home run with the Yankees uniform, tying Alex Rodriguez for sixth place on the franchise’s all-time home run list. The hit, which came in the first inning against right-hander Grant Holmes, was key in the 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.
The home run, in addition to being his number 36 of the season, marked an additional milestone for Judge, who has now hit home runs in 32 different Major League stadiums. With this, he tied for third place among active players with the most stadiums visited with home runs, along with Willy Adames, Randal Grichuk and Carlos Santana. Only Giancarlo Stanton (36) and Manny Machado (34) have achieved more.
The Yankees’ attack was backed by a run-scoring single from Paul Goldschmidt in that same first chapter, and by a solid performance from starting pitcher Marcus Stroman, who worked six innings in which he allowed five hits, one run, gave no walks and struck out four. Since his return from the injured list, Stroman maintains an ERA of 3.00 in four starts.
Venezuelan Jorbit Vivas contributed a run batted in after being hit with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. drove in another with a double in the seventh.
In the history of the Yankees, Judge already ranks behind legends like Babe Ruth (659), Mickey Mantle (536), Lou Gehrig (493), Joe DiMaggio (361), and Yogi Berra (358). If he keeps up the pace, he could soon continue to climb the ranks.
With this victory, the Yankees took the series in Atlanta, once again showing their ability to compete at the highest level, with Judge leading as their face and main hitter.
