The Dominican strategist reaffirmed his confidence in Sandy Alcántara, whom he has designated as the starting pitcher for a possible final of the tournament. Pujols explained that the plan is defined from the beginning and will not depend on the opponent they face in that instance. “Alcántara will be our pitcher no matter what. If we have the opportunity to reach the final, he will be the one to take the ball,” said the manager, making it clear that he does not contemplate modifying that decision. The leader even emphasized that the strategy will be maintained regardless of the opponent the Dominican team faces in the championship game.

Total confidence in Alcántara

Pujols also enthusiastically expressed the confidence he has in the Dominican right-hander, highlighting his quality and leadership on the mound. Jokingly, the leader assured that the emotion would be so great that even he himself would want to pitch from the dugout if the team reaches the decisive match. “I have a lot of faith in Sandy and hopefully we’ll be talking here on Tuesday after that game,” he commented.

Focused on the final goal

When asked how this Dominican team could be compared to previous years’ selections, Pujols preferred not to get ahead of that analysis. The leader pointed out that the group’s priority is to complete the mission on the ground before thinking about the historical legacy. “Right now it’s difficult to talk about comparisons. We are still two games away from achieving our goal, which is to win the championship,” he concluded.
