Miami, Florida. — The Dominican Republic team that will participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic held its first official practice together this Sunday in the city of Miami, beginning the final stage of preparation before the important international tournament.
The training day was led by the president of the Dominican Baseball Federation, Juan Núñez, along with general manager Nelson Cruz and manager Albert Pujols, who supervised the work alongside the coaching staff in an atmosphere marked by concentration, enthusiasm, and group integration.
During the session, several of the main Dominican stars of Major League Baseball coincided for the first time on the field wearing the tricolor jersey. Among the position players present were Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., Julio Rodríguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Ketel Marte, Manny Machado, Geraldo Perdomo, Junior Caminero, Austin Wells, Carlos Santana, Jeremy Peña, Oneil Cruz, Amed Rosario and Agustín Ramírez, who participated in the batting routines, fielding and defensive exercises programmed by the coaching staff.
Several of the pitchers called up also worked on the mound, including Brayan Bello, Luis Severino, Sandy Alcántara, Carlos Estévez, Seranthony Domínguez, Camilo Doval, Wandy Peralta, Dennis Santana, Gregory Soto, Edwin Uceta, Huascar Brazobán, Abner Uribe, Albert Abreu and Cristopher Sánchez, who make up a pitching staff that combines youth, power and experience in high-level baseball.
The practice brought together the 30 players called up to integrate the Dominican roster in the tournament, marking a significant moment within the team’s preparation process.
At the end of the day, figures like Soto, Tatis Jr., Machado, and Wells agreed in highlighting the pride of wearing the Dominican uniform in the World Baseball Classic, emphasizing the commitment and responsibility of representing their country in one of the most important international baseball events.
In addition to the technical work, the session was characterized by the good atmosphere among the team members. Smiles, exchanges between colleagues and constant mutual support reflected the chemistry that is beginning to consolidate within the group.
