Santo Domingo.– The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, feted the members of the Dominican team that will participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic on Monday night, in a meeting marked by camaraderie and firm institutional support for national sports.

The president, accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, offered a dinner in honor of the players, members of the operations team and coaching staff of the tricolor team, which starting this Friday, March 6, will represent the country in the event that brings together the 20 best nations in world baseball.
During the activity, held in a hotel in the capital, the Head of State expressed his full confidence in the talent and dedication of the Dominican baseball players.
The president also highlighted the impact of baseball as a symbol of national identity. “Baseball unites us, fills us with emotion and reminds us of what we are capable of when we work as a team. Know that you have the absolute support of the Government and of an entire people who believe in you,” said the ruler.
The players shared in a relaxed atmosphere with the head of state, prior to the start of the two-game exhibition series that will serve as a prelude to their official participation in the tournament.
Juan Núñez, president of Fedom; Nelson Cruz, team manager; and Albert Pujols, team leader, in addition to Adrián Beltré and Vladimir Guerrero Sr., both members of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, were at the main table with the president and the Minister of Sports.
Also the Minister of Tourism, David Collado and the National Baseball Commissioner, Junior Noboa.
The stellar Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Julio Rodríguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Ketel Marte, Junior Caminero, and Gerardo Perdomo, among others, headlined the dinner.
