Fedom’s U8 National is dedicated to Edwin Encarnación

Santo Domingo, D.N.- The Dominican Baseball Federation announced for this September 14th the realization of the “VII National U8 Championship” and that in 2025 it will have a special dedication to former Major League player and next Hall of Fame of Dominican Republic Sport Edwin Encarnación, the event will take place at the San Isidro Air Base, Santo Domingo Este.

The invitational contest brings together 44 teams from all over the country that will take over the baseball plays at the Air Base facilities where a total of 792 children aged between 7 and 8 years old are expected. “Edwin Encarnación is an icon of our king sport in the Dominican Republic, a man who from the beginning gave everything for the country to shine in the Major Leagues, also in Lidom with the Águilas Cibaeñas and how can we not remember him as the fourth batter with the team that filled us with glory in an undefeated way in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.”, commented the president of Fedom, Juan Núñez Nepomuceno. Likewise, the head of the entity expressed that due to his human qualities outside of baseball, the Dominican Republic is proud to have him as part of its history, and that Fedom is more than pleased to dedicate this event to him and to announce that from 2025 in the National U8, the teams will compete for the “Edwin Encarnación Cup”. The representations of La Altagracia, Punta Cana, La Romana will be seen in action, also El Higueral de Romana, Ocoa, La Vega, Nagua, Valverde, Duarte, San Cristóbal, Abeprosado, Independencia, Monte Plata, El Seibo, Distrito Nacional, the Tigres de Licey, also the owners of the house who will be represented by Air Force 1 and Air Force 2. National Army A and National Army B will take the field, Norma Díaz League, Santos Guerrero de Peravia League, Samaná, Las Terrenas, La Bruja Puerto Plata, Altamira, Montellano, José Gómez League (Barahona), San Pedro de Macorís, Daniel García League (SPM), Santiago Sur and Santiago Norte. Likewise, Monte Cristi East and Monte Cristi West, the Cris Pérez League of Moca, López & Rumy Academy (Moca), from San Juan de La Maguana come the Alex Reyes League, Team Chelo, Zona Norte and the José y Vidal League, Sánchez Ramírez will have Cotuí 1, Cotuí 2, Pozo- La Mata 1 and 2 will seek to win the Edwin Encarnación Cup. The games will be broadcast on VTV Channel 32 as part of the agreement between Fedom and Grupo de Medios Panorama and also on the YouTube channel of the Dominican Baseball Federation “Fedobe Live”. The U8 National Championship, along with the U6 and U10, are part of the invitation and development events that the Dominican Baseball Federation has been carrying out, accompanying the youngest in their initiation stage to this king sport of Dominicans.
