Santo Domingo, D.N.– The management of the Dominican baseball team announced the appointment of Félix Fermín Jr. as manager of the national team that will participate in the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
The information was provided by the general manager of the Dominican team, Luis Polonia Jr., who highlighted the experience and work done by Fermín Jr. during the 2023 San Salvador Central American and Caribbean Games, where the Dominican Republic managed to qualify for the Santiago de Chile Pan American Games.
“We chose Félix Fermín Jr. as manager because he possesses the capacity and experience to take on this commitment. He comes from qualifying the Dominican Republic for the 2023 San Salvador Games and also has experience managing in the Summer Professional League. We fully trust his work,” expressed Polonia Jr.
The executive added that the main goal of the national team will be to win the gold medal in the Santo Domingo 2026 baseball tournament.
“We are certain that the team we are forming will be successfully guided by Félix Fermín Jr. toward our final goal. He is a person who has lived his whole life in baseball, and his youth and versatility are a guarantee that the Dominican Republic will be in good hands,” he added.

Extensive career in baseball
Félix Fermín Jr. possesses an outstanding career as a player, coach, and manager. In 2024, he won a championship as a player in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) and also has accumulated experience as a coach in the Mexican Baseball League with the Delfines and Sultanes franchises.
He was also part of the coaching staff for the Águilas Cibaeñas in different seasons of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), specifically in the years 2008, 2018, and 2021.

In the Dominican Republic Professional Summer Baseball League, he has built a successful career as a manager, achieving eight championship titles with the Granjeros de Moca between 2010 and 2012 and subsequently between 2018 and 2023.
Currently, since the year 2024, he serves as a manager in the Dominican Summer League with the New York Mets organization.
The baseball tournament of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 31 to August 7 at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, the venue where the national teams of Colombia, Cuba, Curaçao, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic will compete.
