San Francisco de Macorís. – Right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden became the second imported player to be announced by the Gigantes del Cibao for the upcoming season scheduled to begin on October 15 in the Dominican Republic.

Mengden, a 32-year-old veteran right-handed pitcher, has six seasons of experience in Major League Baseball from 2016 to 2020 with the Oakland Athletics and in 2022 with the Kansas City Royals.
The signing of the Giants’ second reinforcement was announced by the president of operations, Lic. Alfredo Acebal Rizek, who highlighted the experience and ability of the right-handed pitcher.
“Daniel is a great pitcher, with a lot of experience at different levels around the world, including the Majors, China, and Mexico, we are convinced that he can be of great help to us next season,” said the executive.
“We have been working tirelessly since the end of last season, focused on building a good team that will allow us to compete at the highest level in the next campaign,” said Mr. Acebal Rizek.

Daniel Mengden, born in Houston, Texas, was a member of the Oakland Athletics from 2016 to 2020 and briefly with Kansas City in 2022, where he accumulated more than 300 innings pitched, recording 17 wins and more than 230 strikeouts during his time in the Major Leagues.
Mengden has taken his talent to Asia, pitching in the KBO of South Korea, the CPBL of Taiwan, and most recently in the summer league of Mexico.
