Cleveland’s offense was supported by a dominant performance from pitcher Tanner Bibee, who earned his first win of the season after working eight solid innings in which he allowed just three hits.
Bibee, 27, entered the game winless in his first 13 starts of the campaign, a streak unprecedented for the franchise since his last recorded victory last September against Detroit.
The right-hander needed only 87 pitches to complete his work, issued two walks and struck out three batters in an outing that marked his best performance of the year.
Venezuelan Brayan Rocchio also contributed offensive power with a home run to support Cleveland’s attack, which achieved its third shutout of the season, all on the road.
For Texas, starter Jack Leiter took the loss after allowing five runs and six hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Venezuelan relief pitcher Luis Curvelo left the game in the eighth inning after being struck in the right thigh by a hard-hit ball from Patrick Bailey.
