Junior Caminero is determined to play in Game 5 despite leg discomfort

Dominican Junior Caminero made it clear that he does not intend to miss Game 5 of the World Series, even if the discomfort in his left leg worsens, after re-aggravating it during the Tampa Bay Rays’ 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

“If my foot is broken, I will play tomorrow,” the third baseman stated after the game, in which Tampa Bay secured a dramatic 12-inning victory to avoid elimination and cut the series deficit to 3-1.

Caminero felt discomfort upon reaching first base after a throwing error by third baseman Joey Ortiz. Although he was able to continue the play and advance to third on a Liam Hicks single, he ended up lying on the base.

The 23-year-old player revealed that he has been dealing with that discomfort for approximately three months, a situation that has not prevented him from continuing to compete throughout the season.

Despite the physical difficulties, the Dominican remains confident that the Rays can come back in the World Series and win the championship.

“Of course we can win the series, that’s why we are the best team in the American League,” he expressed.

Tampa Bay will host Milwaukee in the fifth game, with the obligation to secure another victory to stay alive in the fight for the title.
