Santo Domingo.– The Sunday slate of Major League Baseball was marked by outstanding performances from Dominican and Latin American players, as well as important victories for teams that continue to solidify their standing in the 2026 MLB season.
In Toronto, Dominican Jesús Sánchez hit two singles and scored a run to contribute to the Blue Jays’ 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The Canadian offense responded after a difficult fifth inning in which the Baltimore team scored four runs against starter Kevin Gausman.
Venezuelan Yohendrick Piñango and Mexican Brandon Valenzuela were key pieces in Toronto’s comeback by hitting solo home runs, while Andrés Giménez added two hits and an RBI. Reliever Adam Macko earned the win and Louis Varland secured his 11th save of the campaign.
For Baltimore, Taylor Ward hit a two-run home run and Colton Cowser added another homer, but they could not prevent the Orioles’ second consecutive loss.

Meanwhile, in Denver, the Milwaukee Brewers completed a resounding sweep over the Colorado Rockies after winning 12-4 at Coors Field. Dominican Gary Sánchez hit a two-run home run in an explosive seven-run sixth inning that defined the game.
Venezuelan Jackson Chourio had a great offensive day by hitting two doubles and a single, while William Contreras also contributed with the bat. Milwaukee reached its 40th victory of the season, achieving the best start in franchise history.
In Miami, Sandy Alcántara once again showed signs of returning to his best form by pitching seven solid innings in the Marlins’ 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Dominican right-hander allowed just one run and struck out seven batters, marking his ninth quality start of the year.
The Miami offense featured a contribution from Dominican Otto López, who hit an RBI triple to lead the Florida team’s comeback. The Marlins thus managed to win consecutive series for the first time since the start of the season.
In Arizona, Venezuelan Eduardo Rodríguez continues to establish himself as the Diamondbacks’ primary starter. The left-hander maintains a 2.52 ERA and has found his changeup to be one of his main weapons for dominating opposing hitters.
Manager Torey Lovullo praised the work done by Rodríguez and also highlighted the management of Venezuelan manager Omar López during the last World Baseball Classic, a tournament in which the pitcher showed a high level with the Venezuelan national team.
Finally, MLB released a new edition of its Power Rankings, where teams like the Braves, Dodgers, and Brewers remain among the most solid of the season. Among the standout players heading into the All-Star Game are names like Julio Rodríguez, Juan Soto, Elly de la Cruz, José Ramírez, and Jesús Sánchez, who continue to have a great impact for their respective teams.
