Boston. After more than a month without hitting a home run, Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. showed his power again this Thursday by hitting his fourth home run of the season in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

The hit, projected at 410 feet, ended a drought dating back to May 17 and represents an encouraging sign for a Toronto offense that has been waiting for weeks for its main star to wake up.
Guerrero arrived at the meeting with a .280 average, just three home runs, and a .730 OPS, figures well below the standards he has established throughout his career and which contrast with the extraordinary performance he exhibited during the 2025 postseason.

In that race to the World Series, the Dominican first baseman was one of the most dominant figures in baseball, batting .397 with eight home runs and a 1.289 OPS in 18 games, establishing himself as one of the most feared hitters in the circuit.
The last few weeks, however, had been marked by frequent ground balls and difficulties connecting on breaking pitches. Despite this, Guerrero always maintained confidence that he was close to regaining his best version.
“I always tell the guys not to worry about me. I’m going to be fine. When I get hot, I’m going to get hot,” expressed the Dominican slugger.
Fenway Park was once again a favorable stage for Guerrero, who raised his career average at that stadium to .347, with 12 home runs and 49 RBIs in his career against Boston as a visitor.
Toronto manager John Schneider also maintained confidence in his star during the difficult start to the campaign, insisting that one swing was enough to change the player’s offensive momentum.
Now, the Blue Jays hope that home run represents the start of Guerrero’s turnaround, whose impact on the lineup could be decisive for the team’s aspirations during the second half of the season.
With the power of its main figure beginning to reappear, Toronto trusts that the Dominican will once again become the offensive engine capable of transforming the course of the 2026 campaign.
