As part of the transaction, the team promoted utility Nate Eaton from Triple-A Worcester to reinforce the roster.
Crochet, who comes from finishing as runner-up for the American League Cy Young Award in 2025, has had a complicated start to the current season. The pitcher has a record of 3-3, with an ERA of 6.30 and a WHIP of 1.47 in his first six starts.
His numbers were affected by an outing on April 13 against Minnesota, in which he allowed 11 runs —10 of them earned— and could barely get five outs. However, he showed signs of recovery in his most recent presentation, when he pitched six scoreless innings against Baltimore.
For his part, Eaton, 29 years old, has experience of 113 games in the Major Leagues between 2022 and 2025 with the Royals and the Red Sox. In the past season with Boston, he participated in 41 games, leaving a batting average of .296 and an OPS of .731.
The organization will be attentive to Crochet’s evolution, a key piece in its opening rotation, while seeking to stabilize its performance during the season.
