DENVER. – Dominican Juan Soto hit the first home run opening a game in his entire career and led the offense of the New York Mets, who defeated the Colorado Rockies 10-5 at Coors Field, in a game marked by a snowstorm that forced the suspension of the action for 48 hours.

The Mets, who are going through a better moment after a complicated recent streak, achieved their fourth victory in the last five games and once again showed offensive power in Denver.
Soto, batting leadoff for the second consecutive game, hit the ball out of the park to the opposite field in the first inning against Michael Lorenzen, sending a clear message from the start. The home run was the first of his career as a starting pitcher.
New York extended the lead in the fourth inning thanks to a two-run single by Carson Benge, while Luis Torrens added another run with a run-scoring groundout.
The Mets’ offense responded again in the sixth inning with a four-run rally that included RBI singles by Francisco Álvarez and Bo Bichette. Later, Marcus Semien sealed the victory with a two-run homer in the ninth inning.
All Mets hitters reached base at least once, and five players finished with multiple hits.
Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta pitched five scoreless innings to earn the win, backed by an offense that withstood Colorado’s comeback, which scored four runs in the sixth inning against reliever Tobias Myers.
The victory came after an unusual winter storm covered the city of Denver in snow between Tuesday and Wednesday, causing the temporary suspension of the series.

In Chicago, Pete Crow-Armstrong tied the game with a two-run homer in the ninth inning and Michael Busch drew a walk with the bases loaded in the tenth inning to give the Cubs a dramatic 7-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
It was Chicago’s third consecutive victory, leaving the opponent on the field, and the team’s 14th consecutive win at Wrigley Field, tying one of the best home streaks in franchise history.
Ian Happ also shined with a two-run homer and extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 27.
The Cubs, leaders of the National League Central Division, improved their record to 18-3 in their last 21 games.
