Santo Domingo, RD. – Former Major League Baseball player César Puello confirmed that Wander Franco’s father was present during the police intervention carried out in Baní, Peravia, in which the MLB player received assistance amid an episode of emotional crisis.
According to Puello, it was Wander Franco’s father himself who requested the support of the authorities with the aim of protecting and helping his son in the midst of a delicate psychological situation.
In his statements, Puello highlighted the fundamental role of the parent and the accompaniment of the National Police:
“Wander Franco’s father was present during the intervention. The father is helping his son and the police were doing an excellent job helping his father and Wander Franco Jr. Our colleague will be helped with God’s favor and all our unity in prayers. Let us pray for Wander Franco, God will be working in him; he is a tremendous human being who fears God with a giant heart”, Puello expressed on social media.
For its part, the National Police reported that at no time was it an arrest or a repressive action, but rather a family accompaniment with the participation of a medical team, which allowed the baseball player to be transferred to a private health center in Santo Domingo to receive professional care.
The case has generated widespread attention after a live video broadcast by Franco himself, in which expressions of anguish were heard. However, both family members and close associates emphasize that the priority at this moment is the “emotional recovery and mental health” of the young athlete.
