Abadina will organize a Mini Benjamin gathering with 42 teams this weekend

SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina) will hold this Saturday, the 14th, and Sunday, the 15th, the Mini Benjamín Convivio, an event that will bring together 42 teams at the National Minibasket House, located in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

The sporting event is aimed at boys and girls between 8 and 10 years old, and will begin on Saturday at 9:00 in the morning with a day of matches throughout the day. The activities will continue on Sunday in the same facility, which also serves as the headquarters of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal). The activity will have a special dedication to sports journalist Alberto Rodríguez Mella, who currently serves as executive director of the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI). The announcement was made by Edwin Castillo, known as “Tatico,” president of Abadina, who highlighted Rodríguez’s career in basketball. “Everyone knows Alberto Rodríguez’s commitment to district and national basketball, in all its categories and levels,” Castillo said, highlighting the dedication of the event. The sports leader also explained that this activity is part of the calendar of events developed by the executive committee of Abadina during the current year. He recalled that last month the U19 youth tournament was inaugurated, which was attended by 28 male and six female teams, dedicated to the Minister of Youth Carlos José Valdez Matos. The Mini Benjamin gathering seeks to encourage the practice of basketball from an early age and promote sports integration among the clubs of the National District.
