Patricia Núñez returns as president of the Organizing Committee; four teams will compete
SANTO DOMINGO, DR.- The Basketball Association of the Province of Santo Domingo (Abasado) announced that the II Women’s Superior Basketball Tournament 2026 will be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 12 of this year and will be played for the Seaboard “Clean Energy” Cup.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 PM, at the Calero club sports center in Villa Duarte, in the Santo Domingo Este Municipality.
The details were provided this Wednesday by William Cabral Lugo (Nemeneme), president of Abasado, who said that four clubs will compete in the tournament, including Calero, the 2025 champion squad, Las Leñeras de Los Mina and Sans Soucí, all three from the East Municipality, and Las Caribes from Santo Domingo Norte.
Cabral Lugo highlighted that the presidency of the Organizing Committee fell once again to Deputy Patricia Núñez, from the jurisdiction of Santo Domingo Norte.

He maintained that each team will play a regular round of six games, in which the first-place winner automatically advances to the final series, which will be a best-of-3-2, the second and third place will play a semifinal round of 3-2, and the last place is disqualified.
He indicated that each team will be able to sign two national reinforcement players and one U20.
