Los Angeles.- The basketball player of Dominican descent, Chad Baker-Mazara, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against the University of Southern California (USC) men’s basketball coach, Eric Musselman, whom he accuses of having engaged in an explosive confrontation involving insults and racially charged comments.
Baker-Mazara filed the lawsuit this Monday, alleging that Musselman lashed out at him in the locker room after the game USC played on February 28 against Nebraska.
The Dominican played 19 minutes in that game, but had to leave the court in the second half after suffering an injury. USC ended up falling 82-67 to Nebraska.
According to the lawsuit, when the team returned to the locker room, Musselman began yelling at his players. Baker-Mazara maintains that he tried to address his teammates by saying “Hey guys!”, but that the coach reacted explosively.

According to the court document, Musselman allegedly shouted at the player: “Shut up! You are one of the worst teammates anyone could have!”.
The lawsuit describes the episode as an insult-laden, racially charged tirade. Baker-Mazara also maintains that the incident occurred shortly before he was removed from the Trojans team in March.
The accusations were filed by the player within a judicial process and have yet to be evaluated. The lawsuit, by itself, does not determine that the events occurred as reported.
