La Romana.– The Cañeros del Este announced the acquisition of guard Brandone Francis through a trade with the Metros de Santiago, sending Raimer Santana to the Cibao franchise, as part of the organization’s moves with a view to the 2026 season of the National Basketball League (LNB).

Francis, a native of La Romana and 31 years old, is a guard of 6’5’’ in height who is currently participating in the Indonesian Professional Basketball League, where he has stood out with the club Prawira Harum, earning the support of the fans thanks to his consistent offensive performance. Recognized as a natural scorer, Francis has a complete offensive arsenal, capable of punishing from the perimeter, scoring in the mid-range, and attacking the basket effectively, taking advantage of his physical strength and versatility on the court. “Bringing Brandone Francis to his hometown has been a goal we’ve had for a while. Being able to make it a reality fills us with satisfaction, not only for his talent, but also for his experience and the human quality he has always demonstrated on and off the court,” expressed the general manager of the team, María Octavia Rodríguez. At the university level, Francis played in the NCAA with the Florida Gators and Texas Tech, the team with which he reached the final of the national championship in the 2019 season, leading his team in scoring in the decisive match. Subsequently, he played in the NBA G-League with the Iowa Wolves, an experience that opened the doors to European basketball, playing in the LEB Oro of Spain with the Gipuzkoa Basketball. In the LNB, defending the colors of the Metros de Santiago, Francis has participated in all seasons since his selection, recording double-digit scoring averages for life and obtaining important recognitions, including the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2021. In addition, he has been a reinforcement in the main superior basketball tournaments in the country, including Santiago, Moca, La Romana and the Distrito Nacional, where he was proclaimed champion with the Club Mauricio Báez. “We want our fanbase to know that we are working tirelessly to bring back the championship they deserve. The 2026 season of the National Basketball League is scheduled to start in the month of April, while the Cañeros del Este continue to refine their roster with the goal of competing at the highest level.
