The day was also marked by an important protocol act, in which the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID) delivered a significant contribution of 1.8 million pesos in support of the tournament’s celebration, thus strengthening the institution’s commitment to the province’s sports development.

First game: Wolves beat Old Mother 90-75

In the first matchup of the night, the Canastica Wolves dominated the Madre Vieja Hurricanes with a score of 90-75, in a game where they imposed their rhythm from the second quarter and never looked back. The reinforcement Juan Rosario shone again with an outstanding performance, recording a solid double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds, being key on both sides of the court. He was accompanied by the native Xavier “El Chino” De La Rosa, who ignited the offense with 26 points, many of them at crucial moments of the match. For the defeated, Kevin Pérez was the most outstanding with 20 points, keeping his team in the competition for a large part of the game, although unable to avoid Madre Vieja’s second consecutive defeat in the competition.

Second game: Laguneros dominate Ciro Pérez 101-84

In the closing game, the Laguneros de Madre Vieja Norte offered a great offensive demonstration by defeating 101-84 the historic Ciro Pérez club, which came from two important victories in its return to the courts, but failed to stop the pace of the Lagunero team. The most outstanding player was Alfredo Pérez, who led the attack with 23 points, being lethal from the perimeter and in penetrations. His energy made the difference against a team of Ciro Pérez that showed moments of defensive lack of concentration. For the defeated, the young Alejandro De los Santos shone with 22 points, being the most consistent offensively, although his efforts were not enough to change the course of the game.

EGEHID backs the tournament with a millionaire contribution

During the day, a special event was held, headed by engineer Rafael Salazar, executive director of EGEHID and former president of the Basketball Association of San Cristóbal (ABASANCRIS), who delivered a contribution of 1.8 million pesos to the tournament organizing committee.

Salazar highlighted the importance of sport as a tool for social transformation and reaffirmed EGEHID’s commitment to the development of young talents in the province. The delivery was enthusiastically received by the sports leaders and fans present, who valued the institutional support for this event, which has already become a tradition in the southern region.
