Laguneros and Lobos start with victories in the San Cristóbal 2025 Superior Basketball Tournament

San Cristóbal, R.D. – With great energy, emotions and solid public support, the 35th edition of the Superior Basketball Tournament of San Cristóbal (TBS San Cristóbal 2025) kicked off, where the Laguneros de Madre Vieja Norte and Lobos de Canastica teams began the competition with important victories in the opening day.

In the first game of the double header, held in the indoor sports center of San Cristóbal, the Laguneros de Madre Vieja Norte prevailed with a score of 84 to 73 against the Avispones de Pueblo Nuevo, in a match marked by the offensive intensity of both teams and the outstanding performance of their reinforcements. For the winners, reinforcement Jefry Abreu was the offensive figure of the match, scoring 33 points, grabbing 9 rebounds and being decisive on both sides of the court. He was accompanied by fellow reinforcement Alfredo Pérez, who contributed 19 points at key moments of the match. For the Hornets, despite the defeat, reinforcement Luis López had a stellar performance with 34 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, while Jean Quezada recorded a solid double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds, being one of the most consistent on his team. In the closing game, the Canastica Wolves won in a close duel 92 to 89 against the traditional Lavapiés Vultures, in a match that kept the fans on their feet until the last second. For the Wolves, Edgar Tejeda and Juan Junior Rosario led the offense with 25 and 24 points, respectively, guiding their team to a valuable first victory that positions them well from the start of the tournament. From the Buitres side, Issac Soler and Jeison Colomé stood out with 18 points each, but their efforts were not enough to reverse the score in the final minutes. The tournament, organized by the San Cristóbal Basketball Association (ABASANCRIS), promises one of its most competitive versions, with the return of important figures, a high technical level, and impeccable organization. The action continues this Friday with a double header, where the teams will seek to position themselves early in the classification table. The public has responded with enthusiasm, auguring a great season for the superior basketball of San Cristóbal. The 2025 edition of the TBS San Cristóbal is played with the support of the Ministry of Sports, the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID), and the Banreservas Cup is contested, in a demonstration of the commitment of these institutions to sports and youth development in the province.
