Kelvin Cruz praises the performance of the Dominican delegation at the start of Santo Domingo 2026

SANTO DOMINGO. The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, highlighted the positive start of the Dominican Republic’s delegation at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, considering that the national athletes have responded with outstanding performances that place the country above expectations in the first days of competition.

The official assured that the results obtained reflect the effort and preparation developed over the last few months, while acknowledging the commitment with which the athletes are representing the national flag.

“Without a doubt, we have started on the right foot, with God’s blessing and exceeding all expectations,” expressed Cruz.

The minister highlighted the achievements reached by the Dominican delegation in sports such as judo and taekwondo, disciplines that have contributed significant medals for the country.

Likewise, he was optimistic about the performance the athletes could have in the remaining competitions.

“What is projected to happen in other sports disciplines is simply impressive. Our athletes are going the extra mile for the Dominican Republic,” he stated.

Call on the people to support the delegation

Kelvin Cruz invited Dominicans to attend the different sports venues to support the national representatives and be part of the most important sporting celebration in the region.

“I invite all the Dominican people to support our athletes. Feeling the support from the stands gives them a special boost to keep fighting for every medal and to hold the country’s name high,” he noted.

Highlight the pride of hosting the Games

The head of Sports also valued the atmosphere experienced during the celebration of the Games and expressed his satisfaction for receiving the delegations from Central America and the Caribbean.

“It is a source of pride to open our doors to thousands of athletes, coaches, and sports officials. We are showing the world the organizational capacity and hospitality of the Dominican Republic,” he concluded.
