Moca, Espaillat. – The Dominican government announced this weekend a broad intervention in the sports infrastructure of the Espaillat province, with an investment exceeding RD$415 million destined for the construction, remodeling, and rehabilitation of important sports facilities in different municipalities.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista, during an event held at the Governor’s Palace of Moca, accompanied by provincial and municipal authorities and sports leaders.
The works will directly impact the municipalities of Moca, Gaspar Hernández, San Víctor, and Veragua, as part of the strategy promoted by President Luis Abinader to strengthen sports, recreation, and youth development in the province.

“We have the commitment and the certainty that these works will be completed in the next two years of administration. The resources are already allocated and we will work together with the sports leadership and the entire province to ensure that each project is executed within the established time,” expressed Andrés Bautista.
For his part, Kelvin Cruz highlighted that the priorities were defined through a consultation process with sports, social, and community leaders from Espaillat.
“When we arrived in this province in January 2025, we did so convinced that real solutions are born from listening to the people. Today we are here keeping our word and responding to needs that waited for attention for years,” stated the Minister of Sports.

Among the main works announced are the renovation of the Moca athletics track, with an investment of RD$133.4 million to bring it up to international standards, and the rehabilitation of the Bragañita García baseball stadium, with an investment of RD$95.1 million.
The roofing of the Don Bosco Club in Moca will also be built, with RD$35.7 million; the renovation of the Gaspar Hernández sports center, with RD$25.6 million; and the repair of the Luciano Polanco softball field, with an investment of RD$17.4 million.
The plan also includes the renovation of the San Víctor multipurpose center, the construction of the Veragua roof, the new basketball court in La Española, and the refurbishment of the Moca sports pavilion.
The provincial governor, Patricia Muñoz, and the mayor of Moca, Guarocuya Cabral, positively valued the initiative and thanked President Luis Abinader and the officials involved for supporting the sports development and the youth of the province.
With this investment, the Government seeks to transform the sports infrastructure of Espaillat and create spaces suitable for both high-level competition and community integration and the training of new generations of athletes.
