Professional racing driver Ollie Millroy thanked his competitor Loek Hartog for saving his life after a fiery crash during the weekend in China.
Millroy said he would be dead if Hartog had not stopped, gotten out of his car, and pulled him from the burning vehicle. “Tonight I am still alive, entirely thanks to one man,” Millroy said, praising Hartog for risking his own life despite the lack of track marshals or fire crews nearby.
Millroy said he does not remember anything from 30 seconds before the crash until an hour afterward. He is now recovering from five broken ribs, a broken collarbone, a broken hand and finger, and a bruised lung, but said the injuries could have been much worse. “Thank you, Loek. I owe you my life for your selfless act today.”
