Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Softball Federation (Fedosa) presented the U-23 national team, which will represent the country in the II Pan American Men’s Fastpitch Championship, qualifying for the group stage of the World Cup in that classification.
The tournament will be held at the Arnaldo Bautista Gómez stadium in Santa Rosa, La Pampa and will award four places to the 2026 World Cup.
It will be played from September 13 to 20 and is organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
A total of eight teams are called to the event, including Venezuela, No. 2 in the world, the hosts Argentina (3), Canada (4); United States (5); Mexico (9); Guatemala (12) and Peru (34).
Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Singapore, Colombia (the host), and Denmark have already qualified for the World Cup. Africa will qualify one team to complete the total of 12.

The Dominican team’s roster includes pitchers Jonni Javier Suriel; Elixandro José Bueno, José Rafael Rosario and Yúnior Alexander Vásquez Liz, who will form a battery with catchers Darlyn De Jesús Báez and Samuel Peña Reyes, who also plays at first base.
In the inner box will be Enderson Cabrera Díaz, Albert Antonio Díaz Ciriaco, Yokaire Quezada Beato, Mike Andrews Márquez Peralta, Eliezer Tate Rodríguez, Yordin Rafael Valdez Martínez, and Jendry Scory Torres Bueno who will be utility.
The gardens will be defended by Jefry Amelio Vázquez Tapia, Kelvi Francisco, and Darlin Dariel Payamps Brito.
“It’s a team made up of young people seen in various showcases, where they showed their talents and exhibited their skills that were evaluated by the technical team led by Pedro Franco,” said Fabio De León Sánchez, general manager of national teams and Garibaldy Bautista, president of Fedosa.
In that order, they indicated that they had a training period, where batting, pitching, and defense were observed, which was completed with talks and other activities related to the event in which they will participate.
The team will be led by Sergio La Hoz, assisted by Santiago Paulino Díaz, José Rafael Bueno and Fernando Gómez; Nicolás Silverio will be the physiotherapist and Nelson Well will act as delegate.
“We trust in the young material, we bet on a generational change that will fulfill the purpose of improving the level where we are sixth in the Americas and 10th in the world,” both leaders pointed out.
