Santo Domingo. – The director of the National Health Service (SNS), doctor Mario Lama, informed that the centers of the Public Health Services Network are prepared to guarantee timely and continuous medical care to the population during the Christmas Eve and Christmas 2025 operation “Conscience for Life”. Doctor Mario Lama implemented a series of measures aimed at strengthening the response capacity of health facilities in the face of the increase in care demands that usually occur during the holidays. The operation begins this Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Among the provisions, regional and hospital directorates were instructed to organize staff so that emergency services remain covered 24 hours a day, activate Emergency and Disaster plans and committees, the high-demand care plan, and the response plan for methanol poisoning. Yocasta Lara, director of Hospital Centers of the SNS, expressed that the strengthening of health prevention and preparation actions was established, the installation of situation rooms in the Regional Health Services and the guarantee of adequate and timely medical emergency assistance throughout the national territory. It was also decided to reinforce epidemiological notification and surveillance through the Sitrep platform, with the timely reporting of variables such as alcohol poisoning in adults and minors, food poisoning, traffic accidents and deaths associated with these causes, in order to facilitate the evaluation of the situation and decision-making.

Similarly, Lara explained that hospital administrations were instructed to ensure the availability of medications and supplies, water and fuel supply, proper functioning of power plants, permanent security in emergency areas, and adequate cleaning of care spaces. The Director of Hospitals of the SNS reiterated that all emergency services will be available 24 hours a day during the operational period. Likewise, she urged the population to make responsible use of these services, thus contributing to a more efficient response from the health system during the holidays. Finally, wishing a Merry Christmas to the entire population, the head of the SNS called on everyone to enjoy the holidays in harmony with family and loved ones, to be prudent with the intake of food and drinks and, especially, not to drive under the influence of alcohol, respecting traffic laws.
