Santo Domingo, DR.- President Luis Abinader led the opening of the Americas Investment Forum (AIF) 2026 this Wednesday, where he highlighted that trust, macroeconomic stability, and legal certainty have made the Dominican Republic one of the main destinations for foreign investment in the region.
n” “nDuring the opening ceremony of the forum, organized by ProDominicana, the president stated that the country offers investors an environment based on solid institutions, clear rules, transparency, and compliance with assumed commitments, factors that, according to him, strengthen national competitiveness.
n” “nBefore more than 2,000 representatives from 52 countries, including China, South Korea, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, Abinader asserted that trust is the main driver for attracting capital and boosting economic growth.
n” “nnn” “n“Trust is the most valuable currency in the modern economy. It turns an idea into an investment and an opportunity into a company. It allows capital to cross borders to create jobs, drive innovation, and bet on the future,” stated the head of state.

Highlight historical investment figures
n” “nThe president highlighted that during 2025 the Dominican Republic reached a foreign direct investment (FDI) of more than US$5 billion, in addition to receiving more than 11 million visitors and consolidating the growth of free trade zones, which generate more than 200,000 direct jobs and represent more than 60% of national exports.
n” “n“More important than the figures is what they represent: jobs, opportunities, innovation, and confidence in our people,” he stated.
n” “nCall to seize the region’s opportunities
n” “nDuring his speech, Abinader maintained that the Americas must move from being recognized as a region with potential to becoming a region of results, taking advantage of the new international economic scenario.
n” “nHe indicated that the nearshoring phenomenon and the search for safer and more resilient supply chains represent an opportunity to attract new investments to the continent.
n” “n“Companies are no longer looking only for where to produce more cheaply; they are looking for where to produce more safely, more efficiently, and closer to their markets,” he stated.
n” “nThe president concluded his speech with a call to strengthen cooperation between the countries of the region to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the global economic context.
n” “n“The future does not belong to those who wait or watch it from a distance. The future belongs to those who dare to build it. And we are ready to build it together,” he expressed.

n” “nFor his part, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón highlighted the progress that the investment climate in the Dominican Republic has experienced in recent years and assured that the country has consolidated itself as a regional benchmark in terms of legal certainty, economic stability, and the attraction of foreign capital.
n” “nLikewise, he pointed out that technological changes and the reconfiguration of global supply chains represent an opportunity to strengthen the country’s position as a hub for export, manufacturing, and innovation.

n” “nThe Executive Director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla, explained that the Americas Investment Forum 2026 seeks to strengthen the ties between Latin America and the capital markets of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

n” “nThe Americas Investment Forum (AIF) 2026, affiliated with the World Investment Conference of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), is taking place until July 3rd at the JW Marriott hotel in Santo Domingo.
n” “nThe event includes panels on public policy, investment promotion in tourism, energy, infrastructure, logistics, manufacturing, agribusiness, technology, and artificial intelligence, as well as business spaces between representatives of the public and private sectors from different countries.
