President Luis Abinader assured in his accountability report this Friday that he will achieve the ZERO Hunger Goal before the year 2028 with the application of focused measures that include the support of our mayors and municipal directors.
“We are confident that we will achieve the Zero Hunger Goal before 2028,” the president emphasized during his speech.
He also highlighted that according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the country has experienced a significant reduction in the undernourishment rate, with the undernourished population decreasing from 8.3% in 2020 to 3.6% in 2025.
In terms of food, the president also highlighted that during the past year the Price Stabilization Institute (INESPRE) contributed to the access of low-income families to quality food through the realization of 1,480 Producer Markets, 1,936 Mobile Bodegas, 37 Agricultural Fairs and 21 food routes that benefited hundreds of thousands of low-income families, promoting the consumption of fresh products at solidarity prices, which strengthened the spaces for direct marketing for small and medium-sized agricultural producers.
The goal of the Zero Hunger Meta is in tune with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 2 to end hunger by 2030 and Sustainable Development Goal 1 to end poverty.
