Abinader leads ITLA graduation with a record of 642 new technological professionals

Santo Domingo. President Luis Abinader led this Friday the twentieth ordinary higher education graduation of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA), considered the largest in the institution’s history, with the investiture of 642 new professionals trained in strategic areas of science, technology, and innovation.

The ceremony was held at the Sans Soucí Convention Center and brought together government authorities, academics, and family members of the graduates, who completed their studies in various technological fields in high demand in the labor market.

During the event, the rector of ITLA, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, highlighted that the institution is going through one of the stages of greatest growth and expansion in its history, driven by the strengthening of technological education nationwide. Likewise, he emphasized that the academic center has expanded its territorial presence and diversified its educational offerings to respond to the needs of the country’s technological development.

Rosario Bernard reported that more than 7,161 professionals have graduated from ITLA’s higher education programs and that more than 136,000 people have been impacted through continuing education initiatives. In addition, he noted that the careers of Semiconductor and Microelectronics Technology, and Digital Animation were recently incorporated, bringing the number of available academic programs to 18.

The rector also highlighted that during this year, more than 8,000 scholarships have been awarded for technological training, with an investment exceeding RD$60 million, as well as the strengthening of alliances with leading companies in the international technology sector.

Likewise, he highlighted the launch of initiatives linked to artificial intelligence, including a specialized cohort for teachers developed together with NVIDIA and the creation of the first National Hub for Educational Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

The president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), Guido Gómez Mazara, also spoke at the event, stating that ITLA has consolidated itself as a tool for transformation for the Dominican Republic and praised the institution’s expansion into different regions of the country.

The authorities highlighted that technological training continues to be a priority to boost innovation, competitiveness, and the labor insertion of thousands of young Dominicans in areas linked to the digital economy.
