Santo Domingo.— President Luis Abinader led a momentous event this Thursday at the National Palace, where more than 36,000 technological scholarships were awarded through the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA), representing a decisive commitment to the talent of young people and their ability to contribute to the comprehensive development of the Dominican Republic.
In his speech, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, expressed that the government is making a serious, secure, upright, and frontal commitment to prepare our population and industries with the delivery of these scholarships.
The official stated that with the support of the Dominican State, the strength of the Dominican youth is further promoted, “of those men and women who bet on and are part of our future”.
“With the firm leadership of President Luis Abinader, we are walking towards a safe harbor, placing ourselves on the paths of the future to make tomorrow a great opportunity,” pointed out Paliza.
In this same scenario, the rector of ITLA, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, reported that during this call a total of 40,654 applications were received, of which 36,225 continuing education scholarships were successfully awarded.

Bernard maintained that this figure represents effective attention to 89% of applicants, which marks an unprecedented milestone for the institution.

This initiative substantially expands access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines and emerging areas of Industry 4.0. With a strong focus on inclusion, 51.3% of the scholarships were awarded to women, boosting their participation in high-strategic-value technological sectors.
Also present were the president of INDOTEL, Guido Gómez Mazara, and the general director of the National Institute for Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP), Rafael Santos Badía.
