Santo Domingo.– The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, dismissed the rector of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA), Rafael Féliz García, by means of decree no. 39-26, issued by the Executive Branch.
According to Article 1 of the provision, Article 13 of Decree No. 390-24, of July 17, 2024, is repealed, through which Félix García had been appointed as the highest academic authority of that higher education institution.

The measure is adopted after several reports of irregularities exposed by the renowned lawyer Nuria Piera, who on Saturday 17th of this month presented a report on political clientelism within the institution, which consisted of employees having to provide part of their salary for the campaign of Félix García.
