Miami.- Activists distributed towels with the slogan ‘ICE Out’ outside Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks are playing Super Bowl LX this Sunday.
Images released by the media outlet ‘The Athletic’ show the towels that the group ‘Contra-Ice’ distributed to fans before the start of the match, and where, in addition to the slogan against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) service, a rabbit kicking an American football placed inside an ice (ice, in English) is also observed.
The towels include a QR code in which, according to the aforementioned media, the pro-immigrant group asks the spectators to show them during the match with the ‘ICE Out’ side towards the field every time the referees signal a penalty.
Protests at the Super Bowl
The meeting takes place at a time of great tension in the United States due to the migratory offensive of the government of the American president, Donald Trump, who has deployed violent immigration raids in Democratic states.
Two U.S. citizens were shot dead by ICE agents in immigration operations in Minneapolis last January.
Furthermore, the presence of Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny as the protagonist of the halftime show, and the openly anti-Trump rock group, Green Day, has sparked criticism in conservative sectors of American society and from the president himself.
Trump initially planned to attend Super Bowl LX, but ended up backing down, claiming that Bad Bunny and Green Day were “a terrible choice”.
