Alleged injustice: man serves 2 years in prison for questionable investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office
Santo Domingo.— Following the letter sent from prison by Yokairy Sosa to the Attorney General of the Republic, which —according to those close to her— did not receive a response, a case that has generated deep concern in different sectors of society is gaining momentum again.
The public complaint states that a person had been in prison for two years fulfilling a 12-year sentence, as a result of what is described as a defective investigation by the Public Ministry.
The case gains greater relevance after the declaration of Enmanuel Antonio Almarante, identified as the confessed perpetrator of the robbery and sentenced to 15 years in prison, was made public, whose version —according to the complainants— would yield elements that question the original accusation and the construction of the file presented before the courts.
