Guayaquil.- A judge from Ecuador’s Contentious Electoral Tribunal (TCE) suspended this Friday the party with which Correismo sought to avoid being left out of the local elections in November. The measure comes after the Prosecutor’s Office achieved the disqualification of the Citizen Revolution (RC), the party of former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017), in March.
It is the Independent Mobilizing Action Generating Opportunities (Amigo) movement, which had already chosen as candidates for local positions some of the main figures of Correism such as the mayor of Quito, Pabel Muñoz, or the former presidential candidate Luisa González, who is seeking the Prefecture of the province of Manabí, one of the Correist strongholds.
