Montecristi. – Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) thwarted an attempt to illegally introduce 240 liters of clerén during an operation carried out in the coastal area of Playa Punta Luna, in the Montecristi province.
The intervention occurred when the military detected a group of Haitian citizens transporting a shipment of the artisanal beverage by sea with the intention of smuggling it into Dominican territory.
Upon noticing the presence of the soldiers, the individuals fled and abandoned 12 jugs, with a capacity of 20 liters each, for a total of 240 liters of clerén.
The merchandise was transferred to the San Fernando Fortress, where it remains under military custody for the corresponding legal procedures.
