Mexico.- Mexican authorities seized this Saturday nearly 5,912 liters of hydrocarbon, 3,000 liters of aviation gas, vehicles, weaponry, two gas tanks, and 777,750 pesos (about 45,973 dollars) in an operation stemming from an investigation initiated in April 2026 for crimes of fuel theft, or fiscal huachicol, in the state of Campeche.
The Secretariat of the Navy explained -in a statement- that, together with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), it executed a search warrant at the Los Jabines ranch, located in the community of El Cerrito in the municipality of Champotón.
Likewise, the note detailed that the proceedings were carried out by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), agents of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), experts from the institution, and personnel from the Physical Security department of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
In addition to the hydrocarbon and aviation gas, the aforementioned authorities seized five long guns, three handguns, twelve magazines, and at least one thousand cartridges of various calibers.
Likewise, during the operation, two night vision goggles, two ballistic vests, two firearm attachments, one small aircraft, 61 land vehicles, 777,750 Mexican pesos, five dollars, two L.P. gas tanks, various documentation, and the property were confiscated.

At the scene, furthermore, six people were arrested, whose legal status will be determined by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) “within the constitutional timeframe and in accordance with due process“.
“During the proceeding, the authorities that make up the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico, in inter-institutional coordination, provided perimeter security support“, the text indicated.
Fuel theft and smuggling in Mexico is one of the main red flags of the illegal energy market, as it accounts for between 30% and 40% of the gasoline and diesel sold in the country.

Another recent case is that of Rear Admiral Fernando Farías Laguna, accused of the same illicit act, who was arrested on April 23 in the Palermo neighborhood, in Buenos Aires (Argentina), and deported last Thursday to Mexico, where the FGR is carrying out his formal indictment.
